On September 16, 1958 Jennifer Tilly was born in Los Angeles in extremely substandard situations. Her mother, a failed teacher and actor, was a salesperson for automobiles while her father was an automobile salesman. Jennifer was the youngest child in her family and she frequently accompanied her mother, who was employed as a schoolteacher and a theater teacher, to performances. She thought she was amazing. As she entered high school, her enthusiasm for theater began to wane. In an effort to counter this, her mother helped to take part as an extra in several plays. Her children all were encouraged by their mom to pursue a love of art. After that, she immediately began to take action.
